BARCLAYS HOUSE CHOIR PRESENTS:
‘JOYFUL & TRIUMPHANT!’ – A Christmas Concert with Carols for All
SUNDAY 15 DECEMBER, 7.30pm at ST PETER’S CHURCH, LOWER PARKSTONE, BH14 0NN
Barclays House Choir presents its annual Christmas concert at St Peter’s Church, Ashley Cross, Lower Parkstone, Poole, on Sunday 15 December at 7.30pm. The choir will be joined by soprano soloist Sarah Palfreman-Kay, bass soloist Michael Dewis, and organist David Beeby. Accompaniment will be provided by the excellent St Peter’s Orchestra who will also play several instrumental interludes including the fast and festive ‘Sleigh Ride’ and a sparkling medley of Christmas tunes entitled ‘The Bells of Christmas’. The programme covers a wide range of music in different styles, including a fascinating and witty composition entitled ‘A Musicological Journey through the 12 Days of Christmas’ by Craig Courtney. The programme also features a cantata by Bob Chilcott based on the story of ‘Good King Wenceslas’, where the traditional tune is interwoven with instrumental, choral and solo sections. With ample opportunities for audience participation in several traditional carols, this promises to be an enjoyable and entertaining evening as we explore both the contemplative and celebratory themes of Christmas.
Tickets are priced at £12, to include seasonal refreshments (concessions available). They can be reserved by telephone (01202 552571) or purchased on the door.
